DescriptionInternal audits are a key component of demonstrating to an organization's senior management that the quality system is both appropriate and effectively deployed. These audits are an important component of all ISO based quality standards. This course explores all facets of modern quality auditing, looking at the steps in the audit cycle. Internal quality auditors, audit program managers and other individuals involved in internal auditing would benefit from this course.
The course length is 24 hours and will include detailed instruction, periodic assessments, and a certificate of completion upon successful review.
Lesson 1: Introduction to the Audit Process
- Define an audit and the reasons for conducting one

Lesson 3: Audit Performance-Part I
- Identify the correct way to conduct a pre-audit or opening meeting
- Identify the basics of time and event management
- Enumerate the roles and responsibilities of the escorts
- Define the purpose of the daily caucus meeting and the daily briefing meeting
Lesson 4: Audit Performance-Part II
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of objectivity and objective evidence
- Understand the correct use of audit notes
- Identify appropriate interviewing and questioning techniques
- Identify the correct procedure for conducting a post-audit or closing meeting
- Discriminate between the pros and cons of offering advice and recommendations
Lesson 5: The Audit Report
- Prepare a formal audit report
- Demonstrate how to prepare audit findings and observations
Lesson 6: Corrective Action and Closure
- Articulate the requirements of a formal corrective action process
- Complete a corrective action plan and root cause analysis

- Describe how to plan and set up an audit program and the key components of such a program
- Identify which records from an audit are important to keep
- Articulate the role of standards in an audit program
- Identify the importance of auditor independence and ethics
Lesson 9: ISO Specifics
- Describe the major new requirements of ISO 9001:2000
- Enumerate the new areas to be covered to satisfy the requirements of the new standard
