This three and a half hour online course will focus on fire alarm systems and fire alarm system components in relation to the Building Code, with an emphasis towards the proper application of the requirements of CAN/ULC-S524 Standard for the Installation of Fire Alarm Systems.

This three and one half hour e-learning course is comprised of three parts and will explain:

  • The National Building Code and its application to fire alarm systems
  • Installation of smoke alarm systems
  • Reducing false alarms
  • Fire alarm system basic terminology
  • The relationship between legislation, regulations and codes
  • The primary requirements for fire alarm systems in the National Building Code
  • Basic code application on system types, device controls and components
  • The importance of identifying the sequence of operation of a fire alarm system
  • Proper positioning of manual pull stations
  • Proper detector selection
  • Proper location and location requirements for detection devices
